Sampada was started at the end of July, 2005 to promote usage of Kannada on the Internet. Back then, there were not many Kannada Websites in Unicode. Most of those that were present, were in ASCII either using Baraha or Nudi. Only few of us were blogging in Kannada using Unicode back then.

Sampada is now a community with more than 3000 registered users, clocking over 3 million hits each month.
